There are shops, convenience stores, swimming and sporting facilities within walking distance of the site and the major supermarkets can be found in nearby Whitehaven.
There are two churches within the village, schools from nursery to 6th Form College are reached easily and St Bees public school is just 3 miles down the valley.
There are also some fine pubs in the area, providing excellent cuisine and real ales.
